Signs of damage
Damage isn't always obvious
Wind and hail can loosen and bruise shingles long before you see a leak. Look for these signs from the ground, then let us check up close.
- Missing, creased, or lifted shingles
- Shingle granules collecting in gutters
- Dented gutters, vents, or flashing
- Water stains on ceilings or in the attic
- Branches or debris resting on the roof

Six spots storms hit first
Most storm damage is hard to spot from the driveway. Tap a number to see what to look for, then add it to your free inspection.
1 Shingles
What storm damage looks like
Dark, round bruises where hail knocked the granules off, plus cracked, creased or missing shingles.
Check it safely from the ground
Look for bare patches from the yard and for shingle pieces on the ground. Never climb a wet roof.
2 Ridge
What storm damage looks like
Wind lifts the ridge caps along the peak first. Gaps there let rain straight into the attic.
Check it safely from the ground
Stand across the street and look along the peak for gaps or caps that look raised.
3 Chimney flashing
What storm damage looks like
Bent or lifted metal where the chimney meets the roof lets water run behind the shingles.
Check it safely from the ground
Check the ceiling and attic near the chimney for fresh stains or a musty smell.
4 Vents
What storm damage looks like
Hail dents metal vent caps and cracks plastic ones. Dents are clear proof for your adjuster.
Check it safely from the ground
Zoom in with your phone camera and take photos of any dents.
5 Gutters
What storm damage looks like
Dents, sagging runs, and piles of shingle granules at the bottom of downspouts.
Check it safely from the ground
Look under each downspout. Gritty, sand-like granules mean your shingles took a hit.
6 Siding & windows
What storm damage looks like
Chipped paint, cracked vinyl, torn screens and dented window trim on the side that faced the storm.
Check it safely from the ground
Walk the side the storm hit and photograph every mark with a coin in the shot for scale.

Will filing a claim raise my rates?

What does my deductible cover?
Your deductible is your share of the cost. Insurance covers the rest of the approved repair or replacement.
How fast can you tarp a leak?
Usually the same day, and often within a few hours for active leaks.
